Kanye West was honored in a big way during Sunday night's
MTV Video Music Awards by receiving the Michael Jackson
Video Vanguard Award, an accolade previously awarded to
superstars like Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears,
Madonna and The Beatles throughout the show's more than
20-year tenure.
He accepted the prestigious award but not without a
13minute acceptance speech that blew any previous Kanye
moments way out of the water.
West
Prior to Yeezy taking the stage, Taylor Swift  talked about the
infamous 2009 VMAs Best Female Video debacle that pinned
the two hit makers against each other for years to follow.
Taylor said any feud between the two was laid to rest long
ago, admitting that Kanye's 2004 College Dropout was the
first album she bought on iTunes.
"I'm really happy for you and Imma let you finish but
Kanye has had one of the greatest careers of all time," Swift
playfully joked as the honoree prepared to deliver his
speech.
As the crowd chanted his name, West looked visibly
overwhelmed before recanting his numerous regrets
surrounding the career-polarizing move.
"If I had to do it all over again, what would I have
done? Would I have worn a leather shirt? Would I
have drank half a bottle of Hennessy and gave the
rest of it to the audience...? If I had a daughter at
that time would I have gone on stage and grabbed
the mic from someone else's?" he asked.
West also acknowledged the backlash he has felt throughout
his outspoken career: "The contradiction is, I do fight for
artists, but in that fight I somehow was disrespectful to
artists. I didn't know how to say the right thing, the perfect
thing," adding, "Sometimes I feel like I died for the artists'
opinion, for the artist to be able to have an opinion after they
were successful."
And to top it all off, looks like the US might be looking
"West" for the 2020 presidential election. Yes, that's right.
Kanye announced he's running for president.
Kanye West announced he was running for president in
2020 during the MTV VMAs on Sunday.
The bold declaration came at the end of an epic acceptance
speech for a lifetime achievement award.

A Connecticut man is accused of kidnapping a man he
thought was homeless, then feeding him in his home.
Police responding to a home on West Wooster Street in
Danbury just before 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving
an animal complaint were met with a 77-year old man who
told them the strange series of events leading up to the
complaint.
He said he'd been pushing a carriage of cans and bottles
down Lincoln Avenue when another man approached him,
and insisted that the man follow him, police said.
The victim said the man, identified as David Pope, grabbed
him by the arm, escorted him back to Pope's residence and
then brought him inside, police said. While they were inside
the home, Pope's dog, a pit bull or Staffordshire Terrier, bit
the victim’s leg, police said.
Even after the dog bite, Pope proceeded to feed the victim, a
news release from police says. At one point, the victim was
able to leave Pope’s house without being detected, went to
his own house and called police.
When police officers went to speak with Pope, he refused to
put his dog away so officers could not safely interview him.
When officers did eventually speak with Pope, he appeared
to be drunk and said he thought the victim was homeless
and was offering him food. Pope was charged with
interfering with the duties of an officer, second-degree
reckless endangerment, second-degree kidnapping and
disorderly conduct.
David was held on a $500 bond. It's not clear if he is being
represented by an attorney.

A major crisis that may disrupt road transportation in
Nigeria for a long period if not averted by the Presidency
has broken out between commercial transporters in the
country and the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC.
The crisis of confidence between the two parties arises over
the decision by the commission to introduce speed limit
device technology on commercial vehicles with effect from
September 1 this year. N35,000 for device, N1,000 for
installation.
It was learnt that the FRSC is working with a private
Nigerian firm to enforce the controversial deal, which would
require each vehicle owner to buy the device for N35,000
and pay additional N1,000 for installation.
The transporters claim that with each of the 25 million
vehicles in Nigeria paying N36,000 to the FRSC, it would
rake in at least N900 billion from innocent Nigerians for a
technology that would not add value to their lives.
In a protest letter to the FRSC, the transporters warned the
commission to desist from going ahead with the project, as
it would endanger the lives of vehicles owners rather than
protect them and accused the FRSC of bringing an outdated
technology to Nigeria, which had long been phased out in
Britain, India, Kenya, Tanzania, United States of America and
Uganda because of its adverse negative effects.
The road transporters writing under the aegis of
International Human Rights and Anti-corruption Society gave
the FRSC one month with effect from August 17, 2015 to
publicly declare the discontinuation of the device or face a
court action. In the letter addressed to the Corps Marshal of
the FRSC, and signed by the Director General, Dr. U.O.
Udofia and Secretary General, Barrister E.A. Egbebu, the
group also drew the attention of the commission that it
lacks the power to introduce the said device under the
Section 10 (3) of the FRSC Act of 2007.
It warned that the FRSC should adopt and use the world
acclaimed Spider Technology that comes with a 3-in-one
high definition camera with long range monitoring of
highways to capture over speeding vehicles.
The group pointed out that while it does not oppose the use
of technology to control road speed limit on the highways, it
would not fold its hands and allow the FRSC to bring in
anything for money-making purpose and endanger the lives
of vehicle owners.
They complained that while the Spider technology was being
used globally it was wrong for the FRSC to contemplate
installing speed limiter on vehicles so that they do not run
beyond the fixed limit even when pursued by armed robbers,
kidnappers, hired killers and car snatchers. “Speed limiter in
all developed and African countries had been banned.
Again speed limit device had been discovered to expose
motorists to danger such as armed robbery and other
dangerous exposures.
“Therefore, in a country like Nigeria where there is
serious prevalence of insecurity, the installation of
speed limiter in vehicles would be counterproductive
and self-defeating,” the transporters said.
Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Commission has
insisted that the speed limiter will be enforced by the
commission with effect from tomorrow.

There was commotion on Sunday at the United Methodist
Church, Mafoluku, in the Oshodi area of Lagos as members
of the church chased away their pasto for allegedly
impregnating his housemaid.
It was learnt that the pastor, Barkuma Andrew, was stopped
from leading the church seven months ago when the
housemaid, who was also a member of the church, Grace,
had complications after aborting the pregnancy.
Andrew had lived with his wife, children, wife’s cousin,
Favour, and Grace in a three-bedroomed flat on the church
premises before the incident.
It was gathered that the members had petitioned the Central
Conference of the church in Taraba State to investigate the
alleged accusation.
Then sought the service of another pastor three weeks ago
when the district reportedly failed to probe Andrew.
At 10 am on Sunday, members of the church showed up for
Sunday service only to see that Andrew and some
“unknown” people had commenced the service.
This angered the congregation which proceeded to chase
out Andrew and his group from the church.
Men from the Makinde Police Division, including the DPO,
were said to have intervened after the incident was reported
at the station.
A member of the church and a former secretary to Andrew,
Moses Sherima, said that the pastor sent his wife to her
village after he impregnated Grace.
He said:
“My room is opposite pastor’s apartment and I was
his secretary. When he started dating that girl
(Grace), I called his wife’s cousin, Favour, on the
matter. She said Grace used to tell her whenever the
pastor had sex with her.
“At a point, I had to move upstairs when I could no
longer bear it. The day that abortion happened, I was
sleeping inside my room when I heard Grace
screaming. I rushed there and saw blood coming out
from her private parts. When the wife came back
from one of her numerous journeys, he told her to
send Favour away.”
Another church member, John Komboroh, said the church
was embarrassed by Andrew’s conduct, adding that they
were tired of his leadership.
He said:
“The petition of adultery against the pastor had been
sent to the bishop at the Central Conference. He
came here, but did not do anything about it. That
was why we wrote to the main body, the Southern
Conference to give us another pastor. His (Andrew’s)
action is an embarrassment to us. We don’t want
him again.”
The new pastor of the church, Reverend James Sunday,
said,:
“We were about to start our service this morning
when we met the old pastor and some unknown
people already holding the service. I calmed down
my people to avoid chaos.”
Another resident and a female member, who identified
herself only as Blessing, said the pastor had once made
sexual advances to her.
“My husband is not always at home. The pastor
would call me in the night and asked if I had slept.
One day he entered my room and gave me a soft
slap on my back. I had only the wrapper on me.
“I was surprised and told my neighbours.”

Dasuki’s trial begins Tuesday

The Federal Government will on Tuesday arraign former
National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), before
a Federal High Court in Abuja for allegedly being in
possession of firearms without license.
The Department of State Security Service, DSS, had, in a
statement by one of its officials, Tony Opuiyo, on August 24,
2015, said that it had charged Dasuki with the alleged
offence.
Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta,
had on Friday assigned the case to Justice Adeniyi Ademola,
who is the court’s vacation judge.
The DSS said it had charged Dasuki with possession of
firearms without licence, an offence punishable under
section 27(I)(a)(I) of the Firearms Act Cap F28 Laws of the
Federation of Nigeria 2004, based on evidence so far
obtained.
The Federal Ministry of Justice had since taken over the
case.
It was learnt that the trial which ought to have started last
week was postponed due to the directive of the Chief
Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmmud Mohammed, to
various heads of court not to sit throughout the week to
enable lawyers and interested judges to participate in the
just-concluded one week-long Annual Bar Conference of the
Nigerian Bar Association.
The DSS had searched Dssuki's home and claimed that it
searched it “based on credible intelligence linking the
immediate past NSA with alleged plans to commit
treasonable felony against the Nigerian state.”
The statement partly read:
“You may recall that on July 16, 2015, the
Department of State Services carried out search
operations on properties belonging to the immediate
past National Security Adviser, Col. Mohammed
Sambo Dasuki (retd.), in Abuja and Sokoto.
“This action was necessitated by credible
intelligence, which linked him to acts capable of
undermining national security. The search operations
led to the recovery of large cache of arms and
ammunition among other things and for which
further investigation was conducted.
“Consequently, on Monday, August 24, 2015, he was
charged to court based on evidence so far obtained,
but which relates to possession of firearms without
licence punishable under section 27(i)(a)(i) of the
Firearms Act Cap F28 LFN 2004.”
The secret service said Dasuki’s arraignment was in line
with democratic practice and “our avowed commitment to
the rule of law, in which nobody is deemed to be above the
law, no matter how highly placed in the society.”

Islamic extremist group Boko Haram killed 56 villagers in a
remote area, the governor of Borno State of the region said,
as the government warned that the extremists are trying to
extend their violent campaign.
Gov. Kashim Shettima confirmed the attack in Baanu village
during a meeting with the parents of the 219 girls abducted
from a school in the region by the extremists last year.
Thursday marked 500 days of captivity of the girls from a
school in Chibok.
"I want us all to understand that the Boko Haram
crisis is a calamity that has befallen us, as the
insurgents do not discriminate whether somebody is
Christian or Muslim, neither do they have any tribal
sympathy or affiliations. Just yesterday they killed 56
people in Baanu village of Nganzai local government,
as I am speaking to you their corpses are still littered
on the street of the village because virtually everyone
in the village had to run for their lives".
He did not provide further details of the attack.
Fleeing residents of Baanu village said they were attacked by
Boko Haram on Friday night.
"We returned back to the village in the morning after
spending the night in the bush, we saw corpses in
the streets of the village," said farmer Mustapha
Alibe.

incredible music career.
Now Bono takes over Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney as
the world’s richest pop star. The singer, who is married to

D'Banj reveals why he is still single

Dbanj the handsome and rich Koko master revealed to Saturday Beats why he is still single despite been linked to several beauties.
He said:
“While growing up, there were some goals I set for myself and at 35; I have accomplished most of them. Sadly, I have not accomplished the primary goals. The main one is marriage.
By now, I thought I would have been married. I had always thought I would have a child before the age of 30. That fantasy did not become a reality because I wanted to strengthen my brand. I wanted to be sure that I was on the right path career-wise because as a kid, you need to crawl before you can walk and eventually run. I wanted to be sure I surpass all boundaries and reach a certain stage where I can easily balance my work and family. That is the main reason why I am not married.”
He however said that he is proud of his other achievements as they have surpassed his widest imaginations.
He said:
“Apart from marriage, one other thing I desire to have is the Grammy but that is already in the pipeline and it would be acquired soon. I didn’t know I would meet Kanye West while I was dreaming big as a child. But I dreamt that I would go places and people would hear my song all over the world. I also dreamt that Caucasians would dance to my music. I dreamt I would top music charts across the world and all that has happened. I have dreamt of performing in front of thousands of people on a global stage and I have achieved that. For all these I am grateful to God,”

77-year-old Donald Williams
A pair of horny pensioners was filmed getting it on in the back garden by a scandalised neighbour.
Jeffrey Belden, 63, and 77-year-old Donald Williams are facing indecent exposure charges after a neigbour called police.
The officers also allegedly discovered a stash of child abuse pictures in Williams's house.
Pam Miller, who witnessed the romp in the back garden in Coldwater, Michigan, speculated why the men were getting it on outside when they lived opposite each other.

She told Newschannel 3: “I was shocked. Nowadays nothing seems to shock me, but in a small neighbourhood, yeah, surprised.”
Court documents say Belden and Williams were performing sexual acts on each other in full view of traffic.
Ms Miller said: “There are too many kids out here. It’s public, it’s a nice neighbourhood.”
Following their arrest, police delved deeper and court documents claim police found 145 pictures of child pornography at Williams’ house.
The pictures show boys as young as seven years old in various stages of undress.
Williams who is currently behind bars in the Branch County jail awaiting trial.
In addition to the indecent exposure charge, he faces five counts of using a computer to commit a crime and five counts of possessing child pornography.
He is due back in court in September and Belden is currently free on bond.

Prof. Wole Soyinka, has stated that he has no respect for former President Obasanjo, who he describeds as an indescribable liar.
Soyinka talked about the former president on Friday night when he responded to questions during a programme tagged: ‘An evening with Wole Soyinka’, organised by Globacom.
Asked to respond to Obasanjo’s assessment of him in the former president’s book titled ‘My Watch’, where he notes that Soyinka is good at hunting and wines but a political illiterate, Soyinka said that he was hardly bothered because he believed that Obasanjo was a liar.
Soyinka said, “Obasanjo is entitled to his opinion. But the question is: ‘Who respects the opinion of a liar?’
I can spend the whole night proving that he is a liar. Obasanjo was once described by an economist, the late Prof Ojetunji Aboyade, as an economic illiterate. They nearly went into blows that night. It was Prof. Mabogunje who separated them.
“So, if an economic illiterate calls somebody a political illiterate, no problem at all.
“In ‘ My Watch’, Obasanjo told the first lie when he said he deplored lies. Anybody who said he never plotted to have an unconstitutional third term in office, even as a writer, I need a word to describe him.”
The former President and the Nobel laureate have been in a running battle taking swipes at each other over a lingering issue between them. Obasanjo had once stated that Soyinka once vowed that the differences between the two of them would not be resolved on earth.
Obasanjo had also in his book, My Watch, and at public events described Soyinka as an expert in wine matters than in political analysis.
He had said:
“For Wole, no one can be good, nor can anything be spot-on politically except that which emanates from him or is ordained by him. His friends and loved ones will always be right and correct, no matter what they do or fail to do. He is surely a better wine connoisseur and a more successful aparo (guinea fowl) hunter than a political critic.
“Wole Soyinka is a gifted man. I have always acknowledged that but he is a bad politician and I have also always said that. That is my own point of view. He may agree with it, he may not agree with it. For instance, I know that if I want somebody to give me the best wine, one of the people I will go to is Wole Soyinka and I know he has a taste for good wine and I said that in the book.”

2 sisters have been sentenced to be raped as punishment after their brother ran off with a married woman.
An unelected all-male village council in India also ordered that 23-year-old Meenakshi Kumari and her 15-year-old sister are paraded naked with blackened faces.
The horrific order was revealed by Amnesty International which said the sisters and their family have fled their village in the Baghpat district, just outside of Delhi.
According to news site Zee Media, the sisters' brother Ravi fell in love with a girl from the Jat caste, a higher social caste than Ravi and his family, who are Dalit, once known as the 'untouchables', who are at the bottom of India's caste system.
The Jat woman's family married her off to someone else in February but she later escaped and eloped with Ravi in March.
As punishment, on July 31 a village council decided Ravi's sisters should be raped to avenge his actions.
Since the family fled their village their home has been ransacked.
Sumit Kumar, another brother of Meenakshi, told Amnesty that members of the Jat caste were powerful members of the village council, saying: "The Jat decision is final."
His family fears for their lives if they return. Meenakshi has filed a petition with India's Supreme Court asking for protection.
Meanwhile her father has also lodged a complaint with two national bodies saying he has been harassed by the family of the Jat woman and by police.
They are also worried about the safety of the Jat woman, who is believed to be pregnant with Ravi's child.
Amnesty International has launched a petition calling on India's authorities intervenes immediately and protects the two sisters.
In an appeal, Amnesty said: "Unelected village councils such as this are widespread in parts of India.
"More often than not they are made up of older men from dominant castes, who prescribe rules for social behaviour and interaction in villages.
"Nothing could justify this abhorrent punishment. It's not fair. It's not right. And it's against the law."

A man who claims he has the world's largest penis says women are too scared to have sex with him.
Super-endowed Roberto Esquivel Cabrera also claims his manhood is actually a disability that leaves him unable to work.
Not only that, but the 52-year-old's 18.9in member is so long that ladies are afraid of it.
The member hangs well below his knees and he wants his 'gift' to be recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records.
But he also wants to be registered as disabled because he says his giant penis gets in the way and he is not able to hold down a proper job.

Cabrera, from Saltillo, in the north-eastern Mexican state of Coahuila, underwent a medical examination and had an X-ray done of his massive manhood to satisfy anyone who doubted him.
And doctors at a health centre in the city of Saltillo, in the north-eastern Mexican state of Coahuila, have confirmed that "according to the scan" in 3D, it is genuine.
A doctor there said the main part of his willy was just over 6 inches long and the rest was extra skin.
Cabrera has approached health services to support his claim he is disabled.
He said:"Look where it is, it goes far below the knees.
"I cannot do anything, I cannot work, and I am a disabled so I want authorities to declare me as a disabled person and give me support.

"Then, I want to go to the Guinness to get recognition."
Medical experts suggest troubled Cabrera might be able to opt for a voluntary modification of his anatomy and have a shaft reduction operation.
He was deported from the USA to Saltillo in 2011 and lives alone in a room given to him by his brothers.
He survives on social assistance and scavenges for food and materials on waste dumps.
He has no friends and wherever he goes he says people shun him.
Prior to his claim to having the longest penis in the world it is believed the honour belonged to an American man called Johan Falcon whose manhood measures a strapping 13.38 inches.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has reduced the number of companies that will handle the contract of lifting Nigeria’s crude from 43 to 16. The drastic reduction is part of the Corporation’s transformation agenda aimed at keeping its operation small, efficient, transparent and reduction of cost.
NNPC spokesman, Ohi Alegbe said the decision is a novel move to instill transparency and accountability in the award of the annual Crude Oil Term Contract for 2015/2016.
He said:
“NNPC yesterday mapped out measures to execute the 2015/2016 award of contract to companies for the evacuation of Nigeria’s crude oil equity from the various crude and condensate production arrangements.”
In a statement, NNPC stated that it was part of measures to optimise the marketing of Nigeria’s crude oil and secure new market potentials. It said the number of off-takers for the proposed 2015/2016 term contract which would emerge after a planned rigorous competitive bid exercise has been pruned from 43 to 16.
 The statement read:
“In the days ahead, we shall place advertisement for the 2015/2016 Term Contracts and the publication will run for one month in major National and International print media to ensure effective message penetration. Later the guidelines for the selection of new off-takers would be published and subsequently a special bid evaluation committee would be constituted to conduct due diligence on successful applicants.”
He also stated that apart from Oando, Calson, MRS, BP/Nigermed and Total Trading that were earlier selected to bid for the new Offshore Processing Agreement (OPA),  invitation was also extended to Forte Oil and Mobil to bid for the OPA contract.

A man who went to the doctors complaining of earache was horrified to discover he had a family of cockroaches living in his ear.
Not only was there a big mummy cockroach taking up residence in his ear canal, but she had spawned 25 little baby roaches.

The 19-year-old patient, known only as Mr Li, had gone to hospital after his ear became itchy and painful.
Doctors took a look inside his ear and were shocked to discover it was crawling with tiny insects.
They believe the female cockroach went inside Mr Li's ear several weeks before laying her eggs.
Doctors said that had Mr Li not come to hospital in time, his ear would have been "destroyed".
Yang Jing, a doctor from Chang'an Xiaobian Hospital in Dongguan, told TVS: "We saw an insect-shaped object blocking his ear canal completely."
Cockroaches, who are often pitched as the only creature that would survive a nuclear explosion, are hardy insects that can survive for months with no food.

This is great news! More than $37k has been raised in just 11 hours to support a Syrian refugee pictured selling pens in Beirut while carrying his sleeping daughter.
In the heartbreaking images, the man offers out a handful of biros, clutching a plastic bag of more pens while his little daughter sleeps wrapped over his shoulder. The photos of the father and child went viral after they were posted two days ago on Twitter by activist Gissur Simonarson.
He was then inundated with requests to help the man and so Gissur, based in Norway, announced he was going to try to find him.
He launched a Twitter account named #BuyPens and within 30 minutes, someone on Twitter contacted Gissur saying he saw the man every day around his house.
Incredibly, twenty-four hours later the man and his daughter were identified as single dad-of-two Abdul and his daughter Reem, four and a half.
Gissi launched a crowdfunding page to raise money to help Abdul start a new life for his family.
Amazingly, in the first 30 minutes Gissur's goal of $5,000 was raised.
He wrote: "We have reached my goal of $5,000 in the first 30 min.
"This was never meant as a cap, just something to start with.
"Let's make sure that Abdul and Reem can really start a great new life.
"All extra donations will of course go directly to them as well."
The fundraising total has reached more than $37,859 in 11 hours and continues to go up.

A Michigan man accused of robbing a credit union told police he needed the money to help pay for his daughter's chemotherapy treatments, authorities said.
Brian Randolph, 23, is accused of robbing the Vibe Credit Union in South Lyon, Michigan, on Aug. 12.
Randolph entered the building and passed a note demanding money, police said. While the note indicated he had a shotgun hidden in his clothes, he never revealed the firearm and police told ABC News that he said he did not actually bring a gun with him.

He has been charged with armed robbery and bank robbery and had his bond set at $500,000, police said.
After his arrest, Randolph told police his motive for the robbery was to help pay for his daughter's cancer treatments, authorities said.
Randolph told police that his insurance company was no longer paying for his daughter's chemotherapy treatments and that he robbed the credit union in a last-ditch attempt to find a way to pay for her treatments, according to South Lyon Public Information Officer Lieutenant Christopher Sovik.
Randolph's family, including the mother of his 1-year-old daughter, told local ABC TV that they think he was desperately trying to get money before his daughter's upcoming chemotherapy treatment.
Asia Dupree, Randolph's girlfriend and mother of their 1-year-old daughter, told WXYZ-TV that their daughter Brialynn has retinoblastoma, a cancer that forms in the eye.

"I guess it was desperation. Time was ticking right before her appointment came up," Dupree said.
Randolph is scheduled to make his first court appearance today since his arraignment, but the name of his lawyer was not immediately available, according to the court clerk.

A nurse was stabbed to death after being repeatedly threatened with knives by her ‘alcoholic transvestite’ husband, a court heard.
Graham Cleary-Senior allegedly knifed Frances Cleary-Senior, a 49-year-old staff nurse at the Royal Oldham Hospital in Manchester, after she returned home from work to find him drunk.
Mrs Cleary-Senior survived the attack and underwent major surgery at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
But tragically, days before she was due to leave hospital she contracted pneumonia and died.
In a police statement, Mrs Cleary-Senior described the prelude to the stabbing.
“He came towards me me waving the knife about, saying he was going to stab me. I replied ‘go on, do it, I’m sick of you threatening me to do it...he then stabbed me with the knife in my chest.”
A 999 call played to the jury captures the aftermath. Mrs Cleary-Senior says ‘my husband’s stabbed me...please help’, before her breathing becomes laboured. As police arrive, a man’s voice can be heard in the background saying: “It’s my fault.”
Mrs Cleary-Senior’s sister, Pauline Ayres, said that after the stabbing her sister told her Mr Cleary-Senior had been ‘very controlling’, adding: "Frances was quite a vulnerable person - she believed that nobody cared about her".
Manchester Crown Court heard that in hospital visits after the stabbing Frances Cleary-Senior told a detective about her marital problems, said to revolve around financial difficulties and her husband’s drinking.
DC Carol Buckley told the court: “Six weeks into their marriage she said she found out Graham was an alcoholic and also that he was a transvestite. She turned up home early after her shift and he was dressed in ladies’ clothes that weren’t hers.”
DC Buckley said the victim told her Mr Cleary-Senior prevented her from seeing her family.
The former merchant seaman had been sacked by a shipping company after he was found ‘unconscious’ through drink.
The jury was also told arguments between the pair were ‘sometimes violent’, that Mrs Cleary-Senior ‘had a black eye once’, and that Mr Cleary-Senior ‘brought a knife out’ six times, on one occasion hitting her on the head with it.
“I asked why she stayed with him - she said she stayed with him for love”, DC Buckley added.

The decomposing body of a 33-year-old man, Gbenga Ogundana, has been discovered by Police detectives in Akure, Ondo State capital, after he reportedly committed suicide over loss of his job.
It was gathered that the body was discovered in his apartment located at Orisunmbare Street, Cultural Centre, Akure, 4 days after he allegedly poisoned himself.
It was gathered that neighbours of the deceased had earlier reported to his older brother, Segun, that Gbenga was missing.
Reports had it that his older brother, Segun, called the deceased’s phone several times without getting any response from him.

So he decided to go visit him, on getting there, Segun discovered that the doors and window of his brother’s room were locked from inside.
He, and other neighbours, went to the police station to make a report, some Police men went back with them and the door was forced open where the decomposing body was found on the bed.
The remains were later evacuated and deposited in the general hospital morgue by the police detectives for post-mortem examination.
It was learned that the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CIID, of the state police command was currently working to unravel the mystery surrounding his death.
A police source said that findings so far suggested that the deceased may have poisoned himself, having lost his job a few weeks ago.
The command’s spokesman, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident and said detectives had launched an investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding the death

Kim Kardashian West has revealed she may be forced to have a hysterectomy following the birth of her second child.
The 34-year-old star who has two-year-old daughter North aka Nori, with husband Kanye West - said she had 'so many' complications during her first pregnancy made it difficult to conceive a second time.
And if one of the conditions - placenta accreta - returns it could mean she won't be able to have any more children.
She told C Magazine: 'They think I'll have placenta accreta again, so if the placenta grows a little bit deeper than it did last time, then they are prepared to have my uterus removed, which is a little scary for me.

'I think we're just gonna go day by day, see how overwhelming it is, and see how the delivery goes.'
The condition occurs when parts of the placenta grow too deeply into the uterine wall and it can cause severe blood loss after delivery. It can result in an early C-section delivery followed by the surgical removal of the uterus, which is called a hysterectomy.
She said the couple endured a 'long road' to get pregnant with their unborn son.
She had a 'couple little operations' to address the issues caused by placenta accreta after the birth.
She explained: 'That created a little hole in my uterus, which I think made it really tough to get pregnant again.'
Second time around, she says: 'I would go to the doctor in Beverly Hills every day at five in the morning to get tested to see if I was ovulating.'
'I also feel lucky that, as of right now, I don’t feel like I’m gonna get preeclampsia again, which last time [contributed to] not only the weight, but also the swelling.'
In the interview she said reiterated that she had been 180 lbs when she delivered North.
The reality star was also candid about how she has become much more relaxed about the idea of motherhood since having her first child.
'When I was pregnant with North, I thought, My life is so hectic - how am I gonna take her to ballet classes and soccer?' Kim admitted.
'I had these visions of all the things I did growing up, and I was really freaked out. And when it happens, you just instinctively know how to do it.'
