"According to one of the victims who escaped, the Boko
Haram terrorists initially ambushed a Volkswagen Golf passenger car conveying
five persons travelling from Damboa to Biu town, a travel distance of about
100kilometer. One person was shot dead and three persons escaped with bullet
injuries, while two who were unable to escape were taken away by the
insurgents,”said Malam Ali Biu.
Another witness said:
“When we mobilised and got to the spot where the
ambush attack was carried out, we were surprised to meet four corpses, of which
we later learnt from a local farmer who viewed the incidents while hiding in
the bushes, that the terrorists later returned to ambush another vehicle, a
mini bus, and shot dead three persons while other passengers were forced away.
So we believe more than five persons may have been taken away by the insurgents
since the mini bus described by the farmer always conveys 12 passengers.
A hospital source at the Biu General Hospital, located
125kilometer away from Maiduguri confirmed that “3 people were brought to the
hospital with serious injuries sustained from gun shots.”
