The Super Eagles dispute over match bonus payment was settled on Thursday, thanks to the intervention of the Sports Minister and Chairman National Sports Commission Bolaji Abdullahi.
The players had refused to leave their hotel in Namibia and missed a scheduled flight to Rio de Janeiro at the early hours of Thursday.
“We have told them to go and play the Confederations Cup themselves,” a source in the camp had said yesterday.
“As at this morning we are not ready to leave Windhoek if these issues are not sorted out. It is either the raging camp issues are resolved in our favour or we all leave for our various clubs and forget the Confederations Cup.”
The Nigerian players were offered a bonus of $2,500 following their less-celebrated 1-1 draw against the Brave Warriors of Namibia in Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier, which they rejected, asking for the full payment of $5,000.
On hearing that the players had threatened to boycott the Confederations Cup, the minister intervened and made provisions for the full payment of the players’ allowance.

On a brighter note, the team arrived Brazil on Thursday evening and will be ready to play Tahiti in Belo Horizonte on Monday, before playing Uruguay in Salvador on June 20. Their last Group game will be against Spain in Fortaleza on June 23.
