Jose Mourinho is reported accepted an offer to return as Chelseamanager at the end of the season after having dinner with club owner Roman Abramovich in west London on Wednesday evening.
According to the Daily Mail, the Real Madrid boss met with Abramovich to thrash out the specifics for his second tenure with Chelsea, and Mourinho has agreed a deal with the Blues worth £10 million-a-year.
Chelsea, however, have reportedly yet to activate the release clause in Mourinho's contract with Real Madrid, and the club with have to play the Santiago Bernabeu side around £12 million to bring the Portuguese to Stamford Bridge.
This, however, poses no concern for Abramovich and Chelsea, it is claimed, expect to make the announcement on Mourinho's appointment prior to leaving for their pre-season tour of the Far East in July.
Andre Villas-Boas, meanwhile, is expecting his former Chelsea colleague to be among his Premier League opposition next season, with the Tottenham manager under the impression that Mourinho has made up his mind to return.
"I am pretty sure the decision has already been taken," Villas-Boas said, as reported by theDaily Mail.
"It seems that he is happy to return to England and Chelsea are one of the clubs who are looking for a manager and it seems very, very likely that he will end up there.
"It’s extremely unlikely when someone makes it that public that something is not set out already."
