jail1Shu’aibu Sale of Gadau local government area was sentenced yesterday for life imprisonment by Justice Rabi Umar at a Bauchi high court for culpable homicide.
Barrister Ibrahim Sambo of prosecution counsel had earlier in the case pointed out in court that around December 2004, Sale hit one Hussaini Ahmadu with a matchet which led to his death. Sambo added that the offence contravened section 221 of the penal code. He therefore presented confessional statement of the accused and two witnesses.
On the contrary, Barrister Yakubu Bako of Defence counsel argued that the evidences presented before the court by Barrister Sambo were not enough. He then appealed to court to dismiss the case.
Justice Umar, as he delivered his judgment on the case, said that the court was satisfied with the evidence it has before it on the charges levellied against the accused. He added that the convict has 30 days grace to appeal against the judgment.
