Three siblings were arraigned on Thursday before an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing a breach of public peace by fighting.
Those arraigned were Muhammed Opeyemi ,48, Kafilat Opeyemi 30, and Zainab Opeyemi, 15, Two other persons arraigned with the siblings were Mary Sunday,20, and Shukrat Ramoni, 50, The prosecutor, Oladeji Obayanju, said that the defendants were arraigned on a one-count charge of breach of public peace.
He said the Opeyemis as well as Sunday and Ramoni committed the crime on Monday at Ile-Elesin compound between 9.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. He added that the free-for-all was due to disagreement over a family property.
The prosecutor told the court that Zainab maliciously damaged a white pair of native garment valued at N39,000 and belonging to one Bayo Olusola. Obayanju said that the offences contravened sections 249 (D) and 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
